Chart

Braintree Top 40

Years & Years pick up another week at #1 with as “All for You” stays put, thanks to Josh, Celina, Emily, and Breagh.  It had plenty of competition though as “Eastside” and “Nobody Compares to You” debut at #2 and #4, respectively, thanks to Emm!e as well as the recordholder “I’ll Be There” looking for an 8th week at #1 but settling for #3 this week.  Elsewhere in the top ten, we see James Arthur finally get his first as “Sober” climbs to #7.  Drake and Michael Jackson pick up their first top ten while 5 Seconds of Summer pick up their 2nd (bet you didn’t think you’d hear that) as “Don’t Matter to Me” and “Youngblood” zoom up to #9 and #10 respectively.

We have a bit of an Australian invasion as Dean Lewis and Conrad Sewell both appear on the chart this week with breakup songs.  “Be Alright” debuts at #20 while “Healing Hands” moves up to #33 after debuting at #39 last week. LANY also debuts this week, thanks to Josh and Emm!e, with “Thru These Tears”.  They previously hit #9 back in August with “Super Far”.

The World Cup just continues to influence the Braintree Top 40 as “Magic in the Air” debuts at #39 after France won their 2nd World Cup ever.  “Magic in the Air” has been the team’s anthem all tournament, being played after each French goal.  A surprise anthem for the French ended up making the Bubbling Under chart this week. 1979 disco hit “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor has been the anthem for France’s unbelievable rollercoaster ride from winning in 1998 to becoming the laughing stock of the 2002 and 2010 World Cup to eventual world champions again this week.  It is currently #1 on both iTunes and Spotify in France.

Emm!e had quite the influence this week as she spent a lot of time at the gym, the only place she could watch the World Cup matches in peace (except for that guy that kept thinking she was looking at him when really she was watching the tv in the reflection of the mirror).  We already mentioned her top dogs, but she also got Digital Farm Animals to get their 2nd chart entry with “Tokyo Nights” at #29 as well as keeping Rihanna on and getting a new peak at #18.  Poor Daina, Catie, and Sara all failed to influence the chart this week as they stayed in their lanes all week.

Celina and Emily both made waves this week as they spun Braintree Top 40 and #PyleOnTheLove all week.  Celina also kept her man James Arthur on the chart for yet another week but has slowly begun lowering his plays.  Could he fall out completely next week? Celina also got “I Got No Roots” by Ive and Eve to chart on the Bubbling Under, which is a ripoff cover of Alice Merton’s “No Roots,” which appears at #22.  Why Celina would rather listen to the wrong version is beyond me, but alas, she has. Breagh’s main contribution was to “One Kiss” and “Delicate” of course as well as keeping “I’ll Be There” in the top 3 again.

Next week, we see the arrival of new Zedd, The 1975, Chance the Rapper, and our old friend Taio Cruz!  Can Years & Years be able to fend off the competition again or will Eastside continue to make a push for the top spot?  Will Jess Glynne ever fall out of the top 5? FInd out next week!

Here is this week's Bubbling Under:

1. Sigrid - Schedules

2. Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive

3. Years & Years - Lucky Escape

4. James Arthur - Can I Be Him

5. Ive and Eve - I Got No Roots
