Billie Eilish leads at Number 1, while Olivia Rodrigo secures another Top 10-debut

The Barbie soundtrack occupies my entire Top 3 again, with Billie Eilish leading at Number 1 with the emotional “What Was I Made For?”. The single took to Number 1 last week, earning the American teen singer her second chart-topping hit following 2019’s “Bad Guy”. It is supported by Barbie its impressive box office performance and live performances across multiple festivals. The other Barbies are moving towards Number 1 though. Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice continue to aim for the top with “Barbie World”, while Mermaid Barbie Dua Lipa steadily remains in third position with “Dance The Night”.

Earlier this year, Disney-alumni Olivia Rodrigo made her long-awaited comeback with “Vampire”. The song immediately flew to Number 1, earning the young pop star her third chart-topper. Although the lead single is still charting in the Top 10 following its Number 1-debut, Olivia Rodrigo has already lined up another hit single from her upcoming second album Guts: the punk-inspired “Bad Idea Right?”. The song feels like an evolved version of her Top 20-hit “Brutal” with more tongue-and-cheek. Boosted by impressive streaming figures and a strong music video, “Bad Idea Right?” debuts at #10 on this week’s list. It earns Olivia Rodrigo her sixth Top 10-single to date.

Meanwhile, Irish newcomer Jazzy reaches a new peak at #4 with her infectious “Giving Me”. Australian pop icon Troye Sivan follows closely at #5 with “Rush”, a new career high. Kylie Minogue now enjoys a thirteenth consecutive week inside the Top 10 with her comeback single “Padam, Padam” at #8. Paolo Nutini stalls at #11 with “Through the Echoes”, falling just short of his first Top 10-hit in sixteen years. British pop stars Jorja Smith and Charli XCX finish at #12 and #13, respectively, and Taylor Swift can claim a new peak with “Cruel Summer” at #14. Sam Smith & Calvin Harris enter the Top 20 with their new collaboration “Desire” at #19, closely followed by Doja Cat whom hits a new peak at #20 with the viral “Paint the Town Red”.

Fred Again.. teams up with Nigerian singer Obongjayar on “Adore U”, a hypnotic and sweet house song that debuts at #16 this week. The track was released this week as a tribute to his younger sister, and features lyrics from Obongjayar his 2022 debut Some Nights I Dream Of Doors, which was originally written for Obongjayar’s younger brother. Fred Again.. performed the track solo at Glastonbury in June and at Down the Rabbit Hole in the Netherlands. “Adore U” is the most recent in Fred Again.. his streak of Top 40-hits – of which the last four all consecutively reached the Top 10.

Further down, Becky Hill earns another UK dance hit with “Disconnect”, joining her previous “History” with Joel Corry or “Remember” with David Guetta. On the new song, The Voice-contestant is joined by Chase & Status. Chef’Special rounds out the Top 40 this week with their new song “Miracles”. We last saw The Hague’s most popular band in 2021 with “Afraid of the Dark”, which earned them their first Top 10-peak on my list so far. The new single is released ahead of their upcoming fifth studio album which is set to be released later this year.
