Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding close in on Goldband + Harry Styles secures a Top 10-debut

The gap between Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding their “Miracle” and Goldband’s hit single “Rommel” narrows once more, with the former receiving another increase in streams. Ultimately, the Dutch band comes out on top, resulting in Goldband earning a fourth consecutive week at Number 1. It is supported by steady streaming figures and live performances. Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding remain in second place again, although the gap between both singles is even smaller than last week. If Harris and Goulding were to overtake Goldband next week, “Miracle” would bag a third week at Number 1. Nigerian singer Ayra Starr joins the race for Number 1 with her global smash hit “Rush”, although she’s not as strong a contender as “Miracle”.

Amidst the chaos around the Number 1-position, one of the biggest pop stars of this year, Harry Styles, secures a solid Top 10-debut with “Satellite”. The synth-pop song serves as the fourth official single for his third solo album Harry’s House. It’s preceded by the Top 10-hits “As It Was”, “Late Night Talking” and “Music For a Sushi Restaurant” – of which the first became Styles his fourth Number 1-hit as a solo artist. The new “Satellite” is supported by a charming music video featuring a robot very reminiscent of WALL-E. The single debuts at #10 this week, earning the top new entry of the week. It’s the sixth song of the year to debut inside the Top 10. “Satellite” marks Styles his eleventh Top 10-entry as solo artist and his twenty-seventh also counting his discography with One Direction.

Further down inside the Top 20, Cameroonian-American talent Libianca moves up to #11 with “People”, reaching a new career peak. Latin pop icons Karol G and Shakira return to #13 with “TQG”, while last week’s highest debut “Last Train to London” by Mimi Webb moves up four places to #15. Fred Again.. continues to scale the Top 20 with his infectious “Turn on the Lights Again”, finishing at #17 this week. Post Malone breaks the Top 20 with his new lead single “Chemical” at #19, earning the American rapper his first solo Top 20-hit in nearly five years; his last being the multi-platinum “Circles”.

This week, Europe was taken over by Eurovision once more. During the first semi-final, British singer Rita Ora performed as an interval act. The set included some of her biggest worldwide hits, such as the uplifting “Ritual”, and her latest single “Praising You”. It is a reworking of Fatboy Slim’s iconic 1999-hit “Praise You”, which peaked at #23 on my personal list. Following the performance, Rita Ora soars up the list, peaking at #24 this week, only one spot lower than the original version. To celebrate Ora her return to the pop playground, I have decided to rank her highest-scoring singles on my personal list to date below this chart.

Finally, Dutch hip hop-pop formation De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig return with their comeback single “Ze Is Pas Net Begonnen”, debuting at #32. It marks the band their first major release since 2018. Last year, they did collaborate with Maan on “Naar de Maan”, which peaked at #3 on my personal chart and went platinum. A few places down, Dutch students Turfy Gang debut with “Padellen” at #36. It is their second charting single on my list, following the viral “Buren” from last year. Purple Disco Machine rounds out the Top 40 with his new Italo-inspired “Substitution”, featuring French producer Kungs.
