Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding take on Goldband in a close race to Number 1. Ultimately, the Dutch boy band pull ahead, resulting in “Rommel” earning a third consecutive week atop the list. Goldband is supported by steady streaming figures and live performances. Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding rebound to second place with their 1990s-inspired trance hit “Miracle”, perhaps looking to reclaim the Number 1-position. The singles are only separated by a few streams, resulting in one of the closest races for the top spot in a long time. If Harris and Goulding were to overtake Goldband next week, “Miracle” would bag a third week at Number 1.
Dutch producer Trobi moves into the Top 10 with his latest single “Ome Duo” featuring rappers Chivv, Kraantje Pappie, ADF Samski and Dolly Dots-singer Angela Groothuizen. “Ome Duo” samples Crystal Waters her 1991-house classic “Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)”. Trobi has enjoyed streaming success in the Netherlands and performed live at numerous festivals, including Tomorrowland and Amsterdam Dance Event. Trobi is supported by a strong rap collective, whom together have scored twenty-one Top 40-hits. Also joining the track is Angela Groothuizen, who, at age 63, is considered a Dutch pop icon. As “Ome Duo” peaks at #9 this week, Trobi, ADF Samski and Angela Groothuizen earn their very first Top 10-entry. The featured Kraantje Pappie collects his ninth and Chivv his third.
American singer and songwriter David Kushner makes his first ever appearance in the Top 10 as his hit single “Daylight” moves up six places to #6. The Los Angeles-based young talent went viral in early 2022 with “Miserable Man”, resulting in worldwide chart success. He then released his debut extended play Footprints I Found, which received over 500 million streams on Spotify. The new single “Daylight” became a surprise overnight success, debuting inside the Top 10 on the Spotify Global chart with more than 4 million streams. It finishes at #6 this week, earning the young talent his first ever Top 10-entry on my personal list.
Arguably one of this year’s biggest-scoring stars, is the British newcomer Mimi Webb. Her debut album Amelia stands as one of my most streamed releases of the year, while the singles “Red Flags” and “Roles Reversed” both peaked at #6. She now continues her impressive streak of hit singles, as “Last Train to London (I Won’t Look Back)” earns the top debut of the week. The emotional ballad has been reworked by Finneas O'Connell, who masterminded most of his little sister Billie Eilish’s work. Mimi Webb earns her tenth consecutive Top 20-entry, out of which six went into the Top 10. “Last Train to London” also marks the third time this year Mimi Webb earns the highest new entry of the week: “Roles Reversed” debuted at #15 and “Freezing” at #13. Webb’s “Red Flags” debuted even higher at #7, but was not the highest new entry of that week, being outperformed by Miley Cyrus’s Number 1-debut with “Flowers”.
Dutch indie-talent S10 re-enters my personal list at #26 with “De Diepte”, following her sold-out live show at the AFAS in Amsterdam. The Eurovision entry has previously peaked at #4 and became one of the most-streamed releases of last year. Niall Horan debuts at #35 with “Meltdown”, the second single from his upcoming third solo album The Show. The previous single “Heaven” became a surprise minor hit and peaked at #14. Dutch rappers Kevin and Yade Lauren round out the new debuts at #39 with their collaboration “Trust”. They previously worked together on “Als Ik Je Niet Zie” in 2020 and “Samen” in 2021, of which the former became a Top 10-hit on my personal list.
