Dua Lipa’s newest single “Love Again” debuts at Number 1 on this week’s chart, earning the singer her ninth chart-topping song on this list. The single is taken from her sophomore album Future Nostalgia, which previously spawned the Number 1s “Don’t Start Now”, “Physical” and, most recently, “Levitating” featuring DaBaby. The new single its success is aided by a new music video and strong streaming numbers. With her newest Number 1-hit, Dua Lipa becomes one of the acts with the third-most Number 1s on my chart. Dua Lipa already was the act with the second-most weeks spent atop the list, now only ten weeks behind the Spice Girls’ record. Dua Lipa’s “Love Again” dethrones Olivia Rodrigo’s “good 4 u” which spent three consecutive weeks atop the chart.
Dutch rapper Ronnie Flex and singer Emma Heesters enter the Top 3 with their Kris Kross Amsterdam-produced single “Alles Wat Ik Mis”, earning Ronnie Flex his first Top 3-entry since 2018’s “Wine Slow (Remix)”. Galantis, David Guetta and Little Mix climb towards Number 5 with “Heartbreak Anthem”, earning the latter their twenty-second Top 5-hit. Dutch rapper Antoon peaks at Number 7 with the viral TikTok-hit “Hyperventilatie”, aided by growing streaming numbers.
The highest debut of the week is scored by Calvin Harris and Tom Grennan with “By Your Side”. It is Tom Grennan his second Top 40-hit, following his breakout hit “Little Bit of Love” earlier this spring. The collaboration is Calvin Harris his highest charting single since 2020’s “Over Now” featuring The Weeknd. Some of the Scottish DJ his biggest hits include the Number 1s “We Found Love” and “One Kiss”, of which the latter was the highest-scoring single of 2018. Calvin Harris and Tom Grennan now debut at Number 20.
A bit further down, Billie Eilish debuts at Number 32 with her new single “Lost Cause”, taken from her upcoming sophomore studio album Happier Than Ever. It follows the Top 10-hit “Therefore I Am” and, most recently, “Your Power”. At Number 39, John Mayer makes his comeback with the 80s-inspired “Last Train Home”, marking his first Top 40-entry since 2018’s sleeper hit “New Light”. Some of his biggest hits include “Half of Your Heart”, “Daughters” and “Your Body Is a Wonderland”.
Since Dua Lipa added another Number 1 to her collection, I have decided to take a look at the acts with the most Number 1s on my chart and which act spent the most weeks atop the list. The act with both the most Number 1s and the most weeks spent atop the list are the Spice Girls. The British girl group has scored twelve chart-toppers between 1996 and 2007 and ultimately spent sixty-three weeks reigning the chart. In a joint second place for the most Number 1s, we have American teen-idol Britney Spears and British girl band Little Mix, both with ten chart-toppers. Dua Lipa is now in third place, alongside Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Shakira, all with nine Number 1s. In the second place for the act who spent the most weeks atop the list, we have Dua Lipa who spent fifty-three weeks atop the summit. In third, we have fellow-Brit Adele, who spent forty weeks at the peak. For an overview of chart-records, see the list below this chart.
