Chart

Olivia Rodrigo occupies the top two position with “good 4 u” and “déjà vu” respectively, while Sigrid and the Jonas Brothers make their comeback

Olivia Rodrigo occupies both Number 1 and Number 2 with “good 4 u” and “déjà vu” respectively, of which the former spends a third consecutive week atop the chart this week. Olivia Rodrigo is aided by the success of her debut studio album SOUR, which is my most-streamed album of the week. “déjà vu” reaches a new peak at Number 2 in its ninth week of charting. “good 4 u” maintains its position atop the chart, aided by playlisting and big streaming numbers.

Galantis, David Guetta and Little Mix enter the Top 10 with “Heartbreak Anthem”. The song is Galantis their first Top 10-hit since 2015’s “Runaway (U & I)”. French producer-and-DJ David Guetta scores his sixteenth Top 10-hit, following recent successes such as “BED” with Joel Corry and RAYE. Girl group Little Mix claim their twenty-ninth Top 10-hit, extending their record as the girl group with the most Top 10s in chart history. “Heartbreak Anthem” peaks at Number 7 this week.

Dutch rapper and young talent Antoon enters the Top 10 with “Hyperventilatie”. Following viral success on TikTok, the song became a hit on Dutch Spotify. The track combines EDM, disco and rap into an authentic song about love at first sight. The track is included on his debut studio album De Nacht Is Van Ons, which has been my second most-streamed album of the week behind Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR. Antoon peaks at Number 9 this week.

The highest debut of the week is scored by Norwegian singer Sigrid, who makes her highly anticipated comeback with the disco-inspired “Mirror”. Following her breakthrough in 2017 with “Don’t Kill My Vibe”, the artist has been steadily scoring Top 40-hits. Her debut album “Sucker Punch” spawned a big Number 1-hit with “Strangers”, which also became a hit across Europe. This week, Sigrid finally returns with a new song that is very reminiscent of Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue’s recent work. “Mirror” debuts at Number 17.

Two other songs make their debut this week, while one song re-enters. At Number 24, Years & Years-singer Olly Alexanders re-enters with his debut solo single “Starstruck”. The success is aided by a newly released remix featuring Aussie icon Kylie Minogue. The song previously peaked at Number 30. DJ Marshmello and the Jonas Brothers enter with their new song “Leave Before You Love Me”, marking the first time the Jonas Brothers entered the list since the 2020-hit “X” feat. Karol G. Their new collab debuts at Number 33. Near the end, Puerto Rican rapper Rauw Alejandro debuts with “Todo de Ti”. The single is already a big hit on Spotify and in Spanish and Portuguese-speaking nations.

Following the crazy hot weather this week, I have decided to take a look at the biggest hits on this chart that have ‘summer’ in the name. Since charting began in 1995, two summer-themed songs have reached Number 1; Lana Del Rey’s 2013-hit “Summertime Sadness” and Calvin Harris’s 2014-hit “Summer”. In 1995, Shaggy nearly peaked atop the list with “In The Summertime”, which stalled in second, and in 2005 Girls Aloud turned up the heat with their Top 3-hit “Long Hot Summer”. Other notable summer-inspired hits include “Summer Jam” by the Underdog Project and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” by Shawn Mendes and Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello. For a list of the biggest summer-hits, see the Top 10 below this chart.
