Goldband and Lewis Capaldi go head-to-head in race for Number 1

Separated by only a few combined streams, Goldband takes this week’s Number 1 with “Noodgeval”, fighting off very strong competition from Lewis Capaldi and his comeback hit “Forget Me”. The Dutch pop group now enter their fifth consecutive week atop the chart. Only about ten streams behind, Lewis Capaldi settles for Number 2 again. Goldband is supported by strong playlisting, while “Noodgeval” is also becoming a nationwide hit. British DJ and producer Eliza Rose also eyes the top position, staying at Number 3 with the infectious “B.O.T.A.”, only barely behind Lewis Capaldi. If either of them were to overtake Goldband next week, it would mark both artist’s their first Number 1-single on my personal chart.

Post Malone and Doja Cat enter the Top 10 for the first time this week with their slow-burning “I Like You (A Happier Song)”. The duet originally debuted on my personal chart in June, following the release of Malone’s Twelve Carat Toothache, initially peaking at #18. The song proved to have longevity, as it re-entered my chart two weeks ago following the release of its music video. This week, the song peaks at #7, nearly five months after its release. “I Like You” marks Post Malone his eighth Top 10-single and Doja Cat her milestone tenth.

Dutch DJ-formation Kris Kross Amsterdam reach a new peak at #10 this week with their heart pumping “Adrenaline”. It is a reworked version of Maggie Reilly her 1992-classic “Everytime We Touch”, which was later famously covered in 2005 by German Eurodance group Cascada. “Adrenaline” is not the first time Kris Kross Amsterdam rework a beloved classic in Dutch. They previously reworked “The Boy Is Mine” by Brandy & Monica into the Number 1-hit “Hij Is Van Mij” and, earlier this year, they turned Olivia Newton John’s “Have You Ever Been Mellow” into the chart-topper “Vluchtstrook”. On the new “Adrenaline”, Kris Kross Amsterdam are supported by Ronnie Flex and Zoë Tauran. The single marks Kris Kross Amsterdam their sixth Top 10-hit, Ronnie Flex his twenty-third and Zoë Tauran her first.

Canadian teen singer Tate McRae scores the highest debut of the week with her new “Uh Oh”, her first single since the release of her debut album earlier this year. The song is produced by Louis Bell, who has also produced hits for Kanye West, Camila Cabello and Halsey. Tate McRae has previously scored big with the viral “You Broke Me First” and went platinum with this year’s “She’s All I Wanna Be”. The new “Uh Oh” does not offer anything new sonically, but is another excellent edition to McRae’s growing teen pop-rock repertoire. The new single begins its chart journey at #22.

Further down, Lil Nas X enters the chart with “Star Walking” at #29, better known as the League of Legends Worlds Anthem. The song is accompanied by a very nice music video. It marks Lil Nas X his seventh Top 40-entry. Ed Sheeran debuts at #39 with the new “Celestial”, which has been released as a promotional single for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games.
