Goldband stay at Number 1 while “Stiekem” becomes the song of the decade

Supported by high and stable streaming numbers, Goldband enter a second consecutive week at Number 1 with their new single “Rommel”. The synth-pop track is taken from their newest EP of the same name, which details the band their struggle with addiction. Goldband faces off against Metejoor and Hannah Mae at #2, while Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding rebound to #3. They debuted atop my personal chart last week, earning Goldband their third chart-topping hit. Goldband have been unstoppable lately – their breakthrough “Noodgeval” went five-times-platinum while their duet “Stiekem” with Maan has not left the Top 5 since its release. This week, “Stiekem” becomes the highest-scoring single of the 2020s yet, overtaking the record from their own “Noodgeval”. It also now ranks amongst the highest-scoring songs of all time. For a full overview of my top 10 biggest songs of the decade so far, check the list below this chart.

Speaking of acts who have been on an unstoppable roll lately – Miley Cyrus moves into the Top 10 with “River”, peaking at #9 this week. The dance pop song serves as the second official single of Cyrus her new album Endless Summer Vacation. It was preceded by “Flowers”, which became an unprecedented international success. On my personal list, it spent five weeks at Number 1 and currently ranks amongst Cyrus her best-scoring hits to date. Its follow-up “River” was off to a slower start, but is now gaining traction. Boosted by increased streaming figures, “River” becomes Cyrus her seventeenth Top 10-single on my personal chart.

Inside the Top 10, Nigerian talent Ayra Starr re-peaks at #5 with “Rush”, while The Weeknd and Ariana Grande rush back into the Top 10 with their worldwide smash “Die For You (Remix)”, finishing at #6 this week. Further down inside the Top 20, TikTok’s singer-songwriter David Kushner climbs up to #12 with “Daylight”, closely followed by Mimi Webb at #13 with her latest single “Freezing”. Shakira and Karol G refuse to leave the Top 20, as “TQG” returns once more, ending at #16 with increased streaming numbers. Dutch singer Flemming moves up to #18 with his new song “Verleden Tijd”, earning him his seventh consecutive Top 20-hit.

Dutch producer Trobi earns the highest new entry of the week with “Ome Duo” featuring rappers Chivv, Kraantje Pappie, ADF Samski and Dolly Dots-singer Angela Groothuizen. “Ome Duo” samples Crystal Waters her 1991-house classic “Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)”. Trobi has enjoyed streaming success in the Netherlands and preformed live at numerous festivals, including Tomorrowland and Amsterdam Dance Event. Trobi is supported by a strong rap collective, whom together have scored twenty-one Top 40-hits. Also joining the track is Angela Groothuizen, who, at age 63, is considered a Dutch pop icon. She rose to fame in the 1979 as a member of the Dolly Dots, an extremely popular Dutch girl group who scored more than twenty-five Top 40-singles. She then went on to become a popular tv-show host and acclaimed theatre actress. Together, Trobi and Angela Groothuizen make a surprise debut at #20.

Further down, The Weeknd & Future debut at #27 with their new collaboration “Double Fantasy”. The song is taken from the HBO drama television series, The Idol, and named  after John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1980 studio album. Lewis Capaldi enters at #36 with “Wish You The Best”, the fourth single from his upcoming second album. The album’s lead single “Forget Me” became Capaldi his first ever Number 1-hit on my personal chart. Rita Ora debuts at #39 with her new single “Praising You”. The single clearly samples Fatboy Slim his iconic 1999-hit “Praise You”, which peaked at #23 on my personal list.
