Purple Disco Machine charges to the top, while Goldband returns to Number 1 for a fifth week

The boys of gold appear unstoppable, as Goldband return to Number 1 for a fifth non-consecutive week with “Rommel”. The single is boosted by increased streaming figures and a new EP of the same name. “Rommel” debuted at Number 1 a few weeks back and gave the boys their third chart-topping hit single. Goldband do face new competition though, as German producer and DJ Purple Disco Machine soars up to #2 with his hypnotic “Substitution”. The collaboration with Kungs first peaked inside the Top 10 last week and is now up a whopping eight places, earning both acts their highest-peaking single to date.

Get your platform heels and your disco ball – Dua Lipa is back with the smooth “Dance The Night” and this Barbie debuts at #6 this week. It is the lead single to the soundtrack of the upcoming Barbie film starring Margot Robbie. The song incorporates classic strings and a funky bass, very reminiscent of Dua her hit album Future Nostalgia. It is produced by Mark Ronson, the genius behind Amy Winehouse her “Valerie” and Bruno Mars his “Uptown Funk”. Dua her “Dance The Night” is supported by incredible streaming figures, easily securing a solid Top 10-debut. It marks the English-Albanian singer her twenty-sixth Top 10-entry on my personal list – and her first solo Top 10 since 2021’s Number 1-hit “Love Again”.

Post Malone continues his comeback as the American rapper and singer moves into the Top 10 with the addictive “Chemical”, peaking at #9 this week. It serves as the lead single from his upcoming fifth studio album Austin, set to be released later this year. It marks his first solo appearance inside my personal Top 10 in over four years – his most recent dating back to 2019’s Number 1-hit “Circles”. In between, Post Malone enjoyed Top 10-success with The Weeknd on “One Right Now” and Doja Cat on “I Like You (A Happier Song)”. Overall, “Chemical” earns Post Malone his ninth Top 10-entry.

Meanwhile inside the Top 20, Puerto Rican heartthrob Bad Bunny moves up to #12 “Where She Goes” this week, closely followed by Eurovision winner Loreen with “Tattoo” at #13. Dutch independent hit singer Froukje peaks at #14 with her latest single “Naar Het Licht”, supported by her acclaimed concert tour across the country. Dutch hip hop-formation De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig earn their first solo Top 20-hit in over thirteen years, as their “Ze Is Pas Net Begonnen” peaks at #16 this week. Their last solo Top 20-appearance dates back to 2010’s “Sterrenstof” [#7] – although in between they did score a giant platinum hit with “Naar De Maan” featuring pop singer Maan. Dutch-Mollocan singer Zoë Tauran enters the Top 20 with “Outside” at #19, following the release of her eponymous debut album.

Miley Cyrus debuts at #21 with her emotional new single “Jaded”. It marks the third release from her latest album Endless Summer Vacation, which has previously spawned the multi-platinum “Flowers” and the Top 10-hit “River”. Dutch model and influencer Roxy Dekker debuts at #31 with her summer song “Anne-Fleur Vakantie”, which references a popular stereotype in Dutch youth culture. It is a very much a guilty pleasure song. Latin pop diva Becky G makes her long overdue comeback at #39 with the electric “Arranca”. She last charted on my personal list in 2018 with the iconic “Sin Pijama”.
