Shouse fends off Sam Fender for a third consecutive week at Number 1 with “Love Tonight”

Aided by stable streaming numbers and playlisting, “Love Tonight” by Shouse stays at Number 1 for a third consecutive week. The electronic duo their hit is further supported by great remixes with David Guetta and Robin Schulz. Shouse, however, faces strong competition from British singer-songwriter Sam Fender and his song “Seventeen Going Under”. His success is boosted by incredible live performances at festival in the United Kingdom. American hit-singer Olivia Rodrigo also eyes the top spot as her song “traitor” moves into the Top 3, aided by rising streams and an incredible live performance at the 2021 VMAs.

English musical icon Sir Elton John enters the Top 10 with his new remixed song “Cold Heart” featuring hit-singer Dua Lipa. The song is Elton John his first Top 10-entry since 2003’s “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word”, which peaked at Number 2 and was certified platinum. Dua Lipa earns her twenty-fourth consecutive Top 10-single, a streak she started when “Be the One” shot to Number 1 in early 2016. “Cold Heart”, remixed by the brilliant dance trio PNAU, rises thirteen spots, finishing at Number 10 this week.

The highest debut of the week is scored by British rising star Mimi Webb with “24/5”. The new song is taken from her upcoming extended play titled Seven Shades of Heartbreak, which is to be released later this year. The EP already spawned the Top 10-hit “Good Without”, which took twelve weeks to crack the Top 10, ultimately peaking at Number 8. Mimi Webb her new song is off to a great start; earning a Top 40-debut in the United Kingdom. On this chart, “24/5” hits the list at Number 25.

At Number 30, British indie rock band Glass Animals re-enter the list with “Heat Waves”. The song previously peaked at Number 32 and has recently found viral success on TikTok. It is now taking the European charts by storm, while it has already peaked at Number 1 in Australia. At Number 35, Ed Sheeran returns to the list with his new song “Shivers”. It is the follow-up single to “Bad Habits”, which underperformed on my list when compared to his previous releases. At Number 39, Armin van Buuren and Davina Michelle debut with “Hold On”, their newest song which will of course do very well on the Dutch radio stations.

As we near the final quarter of 2021, I have decided to take a look at my personal most-streamed albums of the year via last.fm. Without surprise, the most-streamed album of the year so far is Dutch rapper Antoon his debut album De Nacht Is Van Ons, which amassed over 414 streams. Its success is of course aided by the Number 1-hit “Hyperventilatie”, which spent seven weeks atop my singles chart. Antoon his debut EP “Heilig Water” also proved to be successful, placing seventh with over 100 streams. The second most-streamed album of the year is Olivia Rodrigo her acclaimed debut effort SOUR, which spawned the chart-toppers “drivers license” and “good 4 u”, which both spent six weeks holding the crown. Dua Lipa her hit sophomore album Future Nostalgia is my personal third most-streamed album of the year, aided by the deluxe Moonlight edition and the Number 1-hit “Love Again”. Some other older albums claimed major success, such as Kylie Minogue’s 2001 album Fever and Tom Misch his 2018 debut Geography. Hey Link! :)
I love seeing 'Love Tonight' at #1 for a third week in a row now, along with 'Seventeen Going Under' still in the runner-up position.
I'm happy that 'Cold Heart [PNAU Remix]' enters the Top 10 for the first time, along with the debuts for '24/5' & 'Shivers', as well as the re-entry for 'Heat Waves'!
Amazing chart as usual.
Have a nice week ahead!
