Effervescence - April 11th, 2024

Welcome to my extravaganza birthday celebration on Effervescence!

Noteworthy cultural notes for this week:

  • It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to! This week it's my birthday chart so I have commandeered much of the Effervescence countdown for this week. It is unfortunately absolute carnage on the current crop of hits but chaos, insanity, and unpredictability is what makes life fun, and this chart is no different.
  • There was an eclipse on Monday, April 8th. Now who can resist the opportunity for a bit of Bonnie Tyler on Total Eclipse Day??
  • I was once an avid fan, not so much at all these days but I believe once bitten by the wonderful world of professional wrestling you're always going to be partial to a nostalgic return to a former world you once used to frequent. I was able to check out a lot of Wrestlemania XL over the past few days. The supershow's main theme, The Weeknd's 'Gasoline' has managed to squeeze in this week.

Heads up for next week:

  • We're going to have an obscure week again next week on Effervescence (April 18th) as many of this week's craziness will exit but it will be Saint George's Day week so prepare for some of the very best songs of all time by English artists on hand to fill up the large void! Current music continues on standby.

Thanks for your new chart and have a good mood!

Ahoy, my friend!

Thank you for stopping by and enjoying the tunes. Namely "Total Eclipse of the Heart", "Beds Are Burning", "Kill Em With Kindness", "We Will Rave", "Obsessed", "When I'm Gone", "Waking Up", "Never Be Alone", "I Don't Wanna Wait", "Rim Tim Tagi Dim", "Sinceramente", and "Love Hurt Repeat".

As always very much appreciated. Question - which classic English artists, or songs, do you expect in next week's rundown St. Georges Day special?

Hi there Maxon!

First of all, happy birthday if you're reading this. I wish you all the best in your future projects and may you have another year full of success and great experiences!

Secondly, I'm happy to have American Television installed on my TV, so I did technically "watched" the solar eclipse as well. LOL, but at least I got to experience it in person here in Germany nine years ago.

Nice to see "Simple Life" in the top 5, the big gain for "I Like The Way You Kiss Me", the returns for "Theme From S-Express" and "Blinding Lights" and the debuts for "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", "Sultans Of Swing", "I Don't Wanna Wait", "What's My Name?", "Beds Are Burning", "My Oh My", "Kill Me With Kindness" and "Do Wah Diddy Diddy".

Also, nice to see a wrestling fan on here too! (Well former wrestling fan), I also used to watch wrestling back then, did not watch it much, but since Triple H took control over WWE, I've started watching again (or at least catching up with it), he has been cooking lately and this year's WrestleMania was a success and the best wrestling show I've seen, especially with the story finally finished! Want to know your opinion of the two-night big event! Wrestling aside, I'm happy to see "Gasoline", the official theme song for the event on here.

Great chart!
Take care.

Ahoy, Sergej!

Thank you so much for the birthday message. It is really appreciated and I will do my best to live up to your generous wishes!

We had about 90% outside here so got all the correct eyewear in place and camped out on a bank facing the sun for a couple of hours with the news on my phone with a couple of bevvies. A fine and very different way to spend the afternoon. Apparently, the next opportunity is in 20 years!

'Simple Life' has so far been 'throwback proof' as it's one of only three risers this week. The momentum is still strong so it may not have peaked even yet. We shall see. You mentioned another of the risers in 'I Like The Way You Kiss Me'. I also see potential further gains there too despite next week being another big throwback invasion week. "I Don't Wanna Wait", and "My Oh My" are also very catchy tunes with pleasant samples of great originals so I would expect them both to get their hands a few more rungs up on the ladder too.

"Theme From S-Express", "Blinding Lights", "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", "Sultans Of Swing", "What's My Name?", "Beds Are Burning", "Kill Em With Kindness" and "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" are all tracks that have meant a lot to me at some point over the years. They're not visiting Effervescence for long but always a pleasure to dust them off as they're always welcome.

Ironically, I stopped watching professional wrestling about the time Roman Reigns began his title reign which ended just this last week. I think Summerslam 2020? It was something like that. He was paraded out after being absent for months at the end of the main event and basically given an impromptu title match and easy win and just switch direction as quickly as that. The business had been frustrating me for many years prior. What the heck was I wasting so much time watching this for? Also ironically, the main thing that was keeping me coming back was NXT (which was Triple H's baby) and rooting for the NXT graduates as they got promoted to the main rosters. Vince McMahon though often made a mess of them and was continually driving the product into the ground for me and Reigns just being put in that position with no build-up was enough for me to tap out. Aside from a brief check-in for the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania each year I never tune in live anymore. All that is to say, I do believe that exciting times are ahead for the brand as I wholeheartedly believe in what Triple H can do and even though I think 8-hours is too much for one show, Wrestlemania 40 was very entertaining top to bottom and I do look forward to what's to come even if I won't commit to tuning in live quite yet.

Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate it!

Hey Maxon! :)

Hope you have or had an amazing birthday! Wishing you all the best for the year ahead.

Glad to see the re-entry for 'Blinding Lights' in the Top 5, as well as the debuts for 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', 'My Oh My', 'Gasoline' & 'Doo Wah Diddy Diddy'!

Good chart yet again.

Take care!

Ahoy, Piran!

Appreciate the birthday wishes. Another one bites the dust to to speak, here's to the next year in life!

Glad you enjoyed some of the personal picks that charted this week. Of the only current new entry you mentioned, we've not seen the peak yet for 'My Oh My'. Does anyone remember Lemmings? The 'Arabian Nights' tune Ava samples on this new track just keeps bringing me back to that! Haha!

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to drop the comment.
