Haziq's Hot 40 (December 24, 2022)

(The tracking period is from 12/09/2022 to 12/15/2022.)

Well, the curtains are slowly falling on 2022, but it's not really over yet! On the second last week of the year, I have four songs making into my chart, and I'm sure they're all big ones! First, on December 9th, SZA dropped her long-awaited new studio album, SOS. The album scored massive streaming numbers during its first 7 days after release. Not only that, two songs off of it debut on the chart this week: Nobody Gets Me (#36) and the biggest one, Kill Bill, which comes in straight at number one! Meanwhile, Tyga, alongside Jhene Aiko and (the late) Pop Smoke, debuts at #40 with Sunshine, a remake of Lil Flip and Lea's 2004 hit of the same name. Also, Taylor Swift rolls into my chart at #39 with the second single off of Midnights, called Lavender Haze. Other than SZA breaking into the top 10 (and the top spot, of course), d4vd and Meghan Trainor do so with their respective hits, Here With Me (#9) and Made You Look (#10). Now, the top 3 hits for this week...

#3: Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift (up 1)

#2: Die For You by Joji (down 1)

And the brand new number one song on HH40 is the one aforementioned: Kill Bill by SZA (debut, 1st week at #1)

On a sidenote, this new #1 comes as a surprise, because when I published the chart for last week (December 17th), I predicted that Joji's current hit would remain at the top spot for this week and next week. But, the following day, I found out that the streams for Kill Bill had gained incredibly. It performed greatly during its release day and has been rapidly increasing ever since, which is why it comes in at the top of my chart this week. And this is the fourth song in 2022 to debut there, after The Weeknd's Sacrifice, followed by Joji's Glimpse of Us and Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero.

So, here's my personal list of the top 40 songs for this week, in full. Next week, in addition to my weekly chart, I will reveal my personal year-end one, the top 100 hits of the year. Who has my personal top song of 2022? And will SZA end the year on a high note at #1? We'll see what happens next week on Haziq's Hot 40!

update january 2, 2023:

i just noticed an error where i mentioned on the intro above that kill bill was the 3rd/4th song to debut at #1 song in 2022. actually, it was 5th. (since there was 4 songs doing so before during that year.) I also forgot to mention that kendrick's n95 debuted there on my chart back in may.  i'm sorry for the mistake. thanks :)
